The Big Fat Pencil Wins Best Prop at Long Beach Underground Film Festival for RIGHT ON!

RIGHT ON! screened at the 2nd annual Long Beach Underground Film Festival this past weekend and ended up winning the award for Best Prop!
David M. Rosas, the designer and builder of The Big Fat Pencil, accepted the award at The Gina M. Woodruff Gallery in Long Beach, CA on Sunday, July 19th and brought the Pencil with him!
The 6-foot pencil was built over the course of one month at a 96 to 1 scale of a real No. 2 pencil. David cut a 4" x 4" x 8' wood post into an octagon, sanded each side into the shape of a pencil tip and an eraser, and then used a marinara sauce can for the metal cap.
The Big Fat Pencil went through considerable wear and tear during the 42-day long production shoot. From the salt water of Huntington Beach, to the intense heat of the Imperial Sand Dunes, this called for repeated upkeep such as fresh coats of paint, additional sanding, and heavy duty cleaning.
Today, it stands as a representation of the weight of creative endeavors and the courage it takes to continue forward.
David's win marks the 9th award for RIGHT ON! since hitting the festival circuit last September.
